The Horses at Moose Creek Ranch

These are the horses that are currently living here on the ranch. Most of them have been here since birth. Some left to have show careers and then returned. Some never left. A couple of them joined the herd as youngsters. A few are retired and enjoy helping the broodmares watch over the babies. It is a nice quiet herd. They visit with the saddle horses who live at home for the summer every day when they come home for water and/or to stand in the sheds to avoid the bugs. The bugs haven't been bad this year (2018) so far although it has been hotter than usual and they stand in the shelters during the hot part of the day. It is fun to take the grandkids out there. I'm not sure who is more interested in whom. The kids or the young horses. The mares seem to know the kids are "babies" and even when they startle the foals, the mares hardly flick an ear.
