The spring of 2023, Todd decided that it was time for Karl to retire. He retired sound at 17 years old. Pretty good for a cutting horse who did lots of competing. His retirement home is back here at the ranch. Being an old woman's trail riding horse is a pretty good retirement for sure. He is certainly not going to work too hard. His main job is mowing the back yard and taking me for rides across the pastures. He might get a couple of little trips to the mountains this summer. It is a prettty good deal to get a really nice, sound, well trained cutting horse to play with. One of those win-win situations.
Our son Todd trained Karl for cutting and sorting and showed him with much success.
