MOOSE CREEK RANCH
We have some nice older mares who aren't ready to retire and like to raise a baby so we continue to have 2 or 3 babies per year. Of course these old mares have been tried and true producers. It has been our policy to keep the babies until they are a bit older but, once again, because we ourselves are growing older we have decided to sell the babies after weaning. We are trying to make things a bit easier so we can continue having a couple of babies each year a bit longer. Some of these mares will retire soon and we will no longer breed them. They will live out their retirement here at the ranch.
The mares are starting to foal. My favorite time of the year.
Karl moved back home to retire. He has been son Todd's main cutting and sorting horse. Todd wanted to retire him sound and knew I was looking for a nice horse to ride so he offered me Karl. I am pretty lucky to have such a nice gelding to add to my little string of riding horses. I was afraid that Eddie would be nasty to Karl but Eddie figured out before we did that Karl was a professional gate opener. They are now buds. LOL We now have chains on every gate.
On this website, we hope to include a history of the horses we have raised and owned here on Moose Creek. If you own or have owned any MCR horses or if you know of someone who does, please let us know. We would love to hear their story and see their photos. If you have photos or stories of any of "our" horses including any in their pedigrees, I would love to receive them to put on the site.
